Legal Documents Required

Required Documents for Import Consignment
  • Pro-forma Invoice.
  • LC (Letter of Credit) / TT (Telegraphic Transfer) DAP (Document against payment).
  • Copy of Commercial Invoice and Packing List.
  • MAWB (Master Airway Bill) / HAWB (House Airway Bill), SWBL, MBL and HBL,
  • Transit Insurance Copy.
  • COO (Certificate of Origin) (this is required only for tariff concession for goods originating in Tibet)
    • 1. Autonomous Region of People’s Republic of China, SAPTA member countries and MFN
    • 2. Rate of countries having bilateral agreements with Nepal
  • Letter of Authority to Clearing Agent to act on behalf of the Importer.
  • Copy of EXIM Code Certificate.
  • Import License if applicable
  • All the above documents except Master airway bill and additional following documents are required to import for a third country by sea.
    • 1. Custom Transit Declaration.
    • 2. Transit declaration invoice for goods in transit in India/Bangladesh for import from a third country.
Required Documents for Export Consignment
  • Valid Copy of Export License (EXIM Code Certificate).
  • LC (Letter of Credit) or APC (Advance Payment Certificate) received from the bank or CAD (Cash Against Document)
  • Commercial Invoice & Packing List of the shipment.
  • GSP Certificate Form A (if applicable).
  • Certificate of Origin.
  • MAWB (Master Airway Bill)/HAWB (House Airway Bill)/MBL (Master Bill of lading)/HBL (House Bill of Lading), SWBL (Sea-way Bill of lading).
  • Letter of authority to clear the consignment for the current fiscal year.
  • Phytosanitary Certificate for Agricultural Products / Plants.
  • Certificate from the Department of Archaeology for the export of Statues, Thankas, Wood Carving of Archaeological value etc
  • CITES Certificate from the Department of National Parks and Wild Life Conservation for the export of bones, horn products and Herbs like Orchid(Sunakhari), Ophiocordyceps Sinesis(Yarsagumba), Paris polyphylla(Satuwa)
  • Value certification from the Handicrafts Association of Nepal for handicrafts goods, Gold and Silver products
  • Value-added Tax Certificate for Alcoholic Beverages & Cigarettes.
  • Passbook for gold handicrafts from the Handicrafts Association of Nepal if applicable. - to be researched
  • Clearance certificate of the Department of Drug Management for medicines.
  • Clearance certificate of the Department of Mines and Geology for mineral products.
  • All the above documents except for the Master airway bill and additional following documents are required for export to a third country by sea/land.
    • 1. Bill of Lading.
    • 2. Transport manifesto/VCTS(Vechicle Consignment Transportation System), one copy per truck.
